Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted

                                                                                                Matthew 5:4

I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: “It is more blessed to give than to receive”

                                                                                                                    Acts 20-35

 NCMB Mission:

The National Catholic Ministry to the Bereaved, in response to God’s call to be ministers of consolation, offers pastoral and spiritual support to the bereaved, caregivers, agencies, congregations and dioceses through education, training conferences and resources,  so that all who mourn a loss through a death may receive the healing comfort of God.

 Dear visitors to our website:

The National Catholic Ministry to the Bereaved was established in 1990, and is presently located in St. Louis, MO. This Ministry was made possible through a 1989 grant from the Raskob Foundation, to specifically address the spiritual needs of the bereaved in accordance with the Order of Christian Funerals. Our Episcopal Moderator is The Most Reverend Harry J. Flynn, D.D. Archbishop Emeritus of Saint Paul and Minneapolis .

The ministry is funded by individual memberships, Ministry of Consolation Trainings/Conferences, sales of manuals, and bereavement materials. Support is received from dioceses throughout the United States. In addition, we also seek personal contributions and grants.

Our Board of Trustees consists of individuals who come from different backgrounds and are committed to working with the bereaved in healing ways. The Membership present from California to New York, and states in between. The only paid staff member is the Office Manager who is part time.

We offer pastoral support and educational training programs to those engaged in working in the ministry of consolation as well as pastoral support for the bereaved. For those working in bereavement ministry we provide regional workshops, retreats, training programs and conferences throughout the United States .  The NCMB online newsletter Journey, provides information on grief to the bereaved and those who minister to them.

I am requesting your help to live out our mission and to promote and evangelize our Ministry. Today’s tough economic conditions make it difficult for us to effectively spread our mission.  Our website is one of our major expenses, but it is also one of the most effective.  We are constantly updating our website to make it more people friendly and member interactive.

We need your help. Please consider becoming a member of NCMB and making a gift donation of $10, $20, $50, or $100 to the National Catholic Ministry to the Bereaved. Your donation is tax deductible.  Every dollar donated helps to defray costs and meet our goals of evangelization. Our goal is to promote, train and offer conferences throughout the U.S. so that if you are bereaved, or work with the bereaved, no one would have to grieve alone.

You may mail your donation to NCMB, P.O. Box 16353, St. Louis, MO 63125-0353, or phone in a credit card donation at 314-638-2638.

Thank you for supporting this ministry.
